Shaye Arluk, Jessica Newcomb & Lauren Kelly
Shaye Arluk and Jessica Newcomb have been the artistic directors of the Music in Motion Dance Company since 2013. Lauren Kelly joined the trio in 2017. Each director contributes their own strengths to the team as we continue to grow and look to the future for our dancers and mission. Their goal for company is to encourage its dancers to exhibit self-confidence, self-discipline, and community responsibility while living life enjoying their passion of dance!

Music in Motion Dance Company works with a variety of choreographers from Virginia and out of state to bring a diverse and challenging experience to their company dancers. Our works introduce the dancers to a variety of styles from contemporary ballet to Afro-Caribbean. On top of learning technique and poise our dancers are learning compassion and community. The company also provides its dancers various conventions and workshop opportunities to work with professional dancers in the field to hone their skills and take their dancing to the next level. The company is always looking for those who can be partners with us and our passion for dance and the community!
2018-2019 Guest Choreographers Include:
Lloyd A. Boyd: former professional dancer with Ailey 2, The Bad Boys of Ballet, feautured on HBO show Succession and in music video by Aesop Rocky. Graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts.
Suzie Elias: Actress, contortionist and professional commercial dancer based out of Los Angeles and represented by Go2Talent.
Jacob Spallino: Dancer with Todd Rosenlieb Dance Company based out of Norfolk, Virginia. Newly relocated to New York, New York.
Company rehearsals and classes during each season typically run on Saturdays November through January. Company members are required to take a well-rounded variety of classes at Music in Motion Dance Academy in order to maintain their company status. Many of our dancers go on to dance in college and beyond in professional and pre-professional careers while other continue to use their love of dance throughout their adult life to continue a life of great health and strong self-confidence.
