MUSIC IN MOTION 2011-2012 CLASS SCHEDULE


CREATIVE MOVEMENT (3-4 years)    Class is designed to give young children experience in movement and dance exploration to facilitate coordination, creativity, flexibilty and strength.  Improvisation and basic Ballet foundation are emphasized.

PRE BALLET (5-6 years)    The beginnings of Ballet discipline and basics through the use of primary barre work and natural movements.  Spatial relationships and musicality are emphasized along with creative exploration and improvisation.

BALLET (7-adult)    A progressive series of classes in Classical technique beginning with fundamental placement and terminology, working to build the discipline, strength and flexibility required for more intensive study.

Ballet III  Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-5:30    Instructor:  Sally

Advanced Ballet    Monday and Wednesday 6-7:30    Instructor:  Sally

POINTE Work in Pointe open students ages 10 and up who have met the requirements of continuous, serious year round study in a minimum of two hours weekly of Ballet and have an orthopedist's permission.

Intermediate Pointe    Tuesday 6:45-7:15    Instructor:  Sally

Advanced Pointe        Wednesday 5-6         Instructor:  Sally

MODERN (9-adult)  Classes in movement based on natural positions of the body emphasizing centering, correct breathing techniques, relaxation principles and improvisation.  Proper technique is emphasized.

JAZZ (7-adult)    Work in a style of movement based on Jazz techniques used in Hollywood, on Broadway and on television.

TAP (5-adult)  A form of dance emphasizing balance, coordination, rhythm and fine motor skills of the feet.

HIP HOP An urban blend, music video style danced to Hip Hop music.  Emphasis on rhythm, coordination and fun.  Music is carefully screened for appropriateness.

PILATES  MAT CLASS An exercise class  that offers total body conditioning emphasizing core strengthening and flexibility.
